Renaud Cook Drury Mesaros (RCDM) attorneys Kelly Hedberg and Steve Mesaros recently traveled to Nashville, Tennessee, for ALFA International’s 2019 Insurance Law Roundtable. The three-day event, themed “The Business of Insurance Coverage — Threats, Trends and Strategies for Success,” included panels of experts discussing smart coverage decisions that make sense for insurance businesses.

Kelly participated in a three-person general session panel focused on recent trends and appellate decisions addressing direct actions against claims adjusters for bad faith and other derivative claims. She helped lead a discussion on trends in bad faith litigation, including the imposition of direct liability on adjusters and strategies to get ahead of these claims.

At RCDM, Kelly’s practice focuses on insurance coverage and bad faith litigation, analyzing coverage under commercial general liability, property, workers’ compensation and life insurance policies. She also advises insurers regarding coverage issues in high-stakes commercial and excess claims. Before focusing on coverage, her work involved insurance defense in complex commercial litigation and personal injury cases.

Steve has more than three decades of legal experience in the insurance industry and leads RCDM’s insurance litigation teams to ensure valuable client service while serving many of the nation’s largest insurance companies. A business executive and seasoned litigator, he understands the challenges his clients face when running a business and the importance of being practical, efficient, creative and results-oriented to achieve success.
